Solar Power Int’l in Anaheim Next Week

It will be interesting to see the results of the Solar Power International Conference in Anaheim next week.  I am getting the increasing feeling that solar power is reaching a tipping point and that the next 12 months will be extremely important in the development of the cleantech industry.  All of the old challenges that we all know about are still out there.  But there is still a lot of momentum from a lot of different sources for the continuing development of solar energy.  It’s important that cleantech have support from the policy makers in Washington, but that’s not even close to being enough to propel the industry.  In the end, you need opportunistic and entrepreneurial minds to see some potential in the industry that will result in increasing investment in the sector.  Without that investment, the cleantech industry goes nowhere.  I think it’s fair to say that for cleantech, the public and private sectors are equally reliant on each other at this point.
