Carol Flammer aka @AtlantaPR
Carol Flammer made my list of Top 100 Real Estate Twitter Users, has 1700 followers, and operates about a half of a dozen websites related to real estate and public relations. I’m going to go ahead and throw her in the group of early adopter and power users of social media. Being involved in the real estate industry in Atlanta puts her in one of the highest growth development markets in the country. Given Carol’s fortunate positioning in a market that will grow significantly over the long term, and her early adoption of social media, the future has to look bright. Find Carol on the web at www.mRELEVANCE.com, www.AtlantaRealEstateForum.com, www.CarolFlammer.com, www.TopBuilderBlogs.com or follow her on Twitter @AtlantaPR.
Reeder: What is your primary niche in the real estate industry?
Flammer: We plan and implement public relations and social media strategies for new home builders, real estate firms, new home communities and construction products. Our offices are in Atlanta and Chicago, and we’ve worked with clients all over the U.S. Check us out at www.mrelevance.com. ![]()
What is the prevailing sentiment in your primary market right now?
Overall, opportunistic and positive. A lot of product has been worked through, and some projects that went into foreclosure early on are coming back on the market now. Others are changing focus, such as big condo projects that were struggling and are now being leased as apartments. New homebuyer tax credits continue to help. Our clients are looking for better things to come in 2010.
How do you use Twitter in your professional life?
One of the primary ways I use Twitter is to support my peers in the industry by retweeting their posts so that my followers will see them. This gives my followers access the larger world of social media and projects outside of their local market area. I also support my clients by retweeting their blog posts on their communities, grand openings, sales events and other news. For my own company, I tweet all blog posts, support our clients’ social media campaigns, pitch reporters. I also use the DM function much like an instant messaging program to connect with associates around the country.
Give me your three favorite people to follow that you have discovered through Twitter?
@mashable for breaking social media news and analysis, @cyberhomes for a combination of real estate and tech, and @JohnLusher because he is a great cheerleader
Has your use of social media positively impacted your business?
Absolutely. Social media is the number one referring traffic source to our Web site and all of our clients’ Web sites. And it’s not just quantity, its quality. Tracking reports show that the people who come to us through social media spend more time on site with more depth of page view. We regularly get people from Twitter who spend four or more minutes on our site. Whether in the long term or the short term, that kind of exposure is going to increase our sales.
How do you think we will be talking about social media as it relates to real estate a year from now?
Within a year, social media will be a standard device in real estate’s marketing toolbox. We won’t be asking, “Have you used it? “ Instead, questions will be, “How are you using it effectively?” or “How have you integrated it into you strategy?”
Go out on a limb, give me a forecast the next year of your primary market in 140 characters.
RE professionals will grow with social media. They’ll understand SEO, post phenomenal content and reap the rewards. Good things are coming.
