LinkedIn Still Awful

I really don’t use LinkedIn regularly, or really at all.  But I was responding to a connection request and noticed that on the right of the page there were some connection suggestions.  All were Sperry Van Ness people.  I figured I would check to see if LinkedIn was any less awful than last time I used it.  Nope.  Still awful.  In order to connect with the SVN people that LinkedIn was suggesting to me, I had to indicate how I knew them.  Then after I indicated how I knew them and sent the request, instead of giving me more suggestions, LinkedIn sends me to the page that asks me to check my inboxes for other connections.  It would make too much sense for LinkedIn to just make more suggestions for me.  It’s almost like they’re admitting “Hey, we don’t have anything valuable here for you in our database, let’s check yours.”  Guess what.  I already know the people in my inbox.  I don’t need LinkedIn to connect with them.  The whole “let’s check your inbox for people to connect with” is about building value for LinkedIn, not building value for me.

What a disaster of a site.

Like an abusive spouse, I’m sure I’ll forget how awful you are and try to make it work again in a few months.

See you in three months LinkedIn!
