Is LinkedIn Relevant?
I’ve posted before that LinkedIn is great in concept, but that I don’t really get any use out of it. I think I finished up my previous post by asking a rhetorical question as to whether you have ever been in a business meeting and someone said “You have to get on LinkedIn!”
The graph below shows traffic for LinkedIn vs. Facebook and Twitter. First, it might not be a fair comparison to show LinkedIn against what is probably the most ubiquitous web site in the U.S. right now (minus Google).
But I think the graph illustrates that LinkedIn doesn’t seem to be catching on. I think you can also dismiss some of the traffic that LinkedIn does get as being from people who are trying to early adopt, even though LinkedIn doesn’t really serve any real work purpose.
This is something I was thinking about today as I realized that I hear little to nothing about LinkedIn during my real world life.
